June 9-12th, 2016:
After two rest days we spent two days free climbing. We climbed the higher cathedral spire (5.9), a very cool summit.
The climb was fairly easy, with one tricky traverse were I took a small fall when my foot slipped and one piece pulled out, so I landed just above ground.
It was a little intimidating to sit on top of the spire as you can see below.
The next day we climbed a route called Werner’s Ant Trees (10c) and Selaginella (5.8). After multiple (6-7) up and down climbs of the crux section (with a missing bolt), Todd decided to finally go for it and onsighted the pitch. After the eight pitches we could join the Yosemite Falls trail to get back down, which was great!
There is some cool weather coming and we decided that the Nose will be our next big wall, which makes Todd extremely psyched. He is now daydreaming about the Nose at all times. Maybe, I should not let him drive the car to be safe.
The next news will hopefully be sent from the Nose. If not, there is a guy hanging out in the valley writing the “El Cap Report” every day (Tom). He has a huge zoom lens and follows parties up the wall. Maybe he will take some pictures of us too!
